BAHAWALPUR: A man allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in Mohallah Nazirabad in the limits of the Saddar Police Station on Sunday.

According to Jam Sajid, the PRO of DPO, the victim was lured by the suspect to a deserted place where she was raped by him. On hearing her screams, the locals rushed to the scene to rescue her and the suspect managed to flee.

Saddar police, on the complaint of the girl’s father, registered a case and sent the victim to Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) for medical examination.

TREES: The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) began planting 20,000 trees on its campuses in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.

In this connection, a ceremony under the Department of Forestry Range and Wildlife Management was held at Baghdadul Jadid Campus.

IUB Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Athar Mehboob along with teachers and students participated in the tree planting campaign and planted saplings.

The VC said the tree planting campaign was a part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision of clean and green Pakistan. He added that the IUB was also extending cooperation with the Houbara Foundation for the planting of saplings in Cholistan desert.
