PESHAWAR: City police arrested a woman for killing two years old son of her brother-in-law over a minor domestic issue here on Saturday.

City police chief Abbas Ahsan told reporters at a briefing at the Malik Saad Police Lines that the incident took place in Chamkani Flats in Gulabad area in the limits of Paharipura police station, where decapitated body of a two years old child was recovered earlier during the day.

Mr Ahsan identified the accused as Asima, 22 and wife of paternal uncle of the slain child. He said that the child identified as Irfanullah had come to stay at his uncle’s home along with his grandmother from Parachinar a few days ago.

He added that the child had gone missing on Friday evening.

He said the body was recovered from the same building and within a few hours the police investigators solved the case and arrested the accused.

Mr Ahsan said that police had also recovered the weapon used in the murder. He said the accused had admitted to killing the child during initial interrogation.

The apparent reason for the murder is said to be jealousy, as the accused had only one daughter and was facing family taunts for not bearing a son.
