LAKKI MARWAT: The food department has asked the management of the four flour mills in the Lakki Marwat district to ensure smooth supply of the subsidised wheat flour to avoid its shortage in the areas specified by the local administration.

District food controller Aman Khan said the provincial director food had taken notice of the public complaints lodged with the Pakistan Citizen Portal about wheat flour shortage in the district.

He said millers had been asked to submit flour distribution record to the district food office daily, adding they had also been directed to provide copies of the electricity bills to be shared with Pesco.

The district food controller warned that the flour mills violating the instructions would face legal action.

FREE SCHOOLBAGS: Members of the parent-teacher councils have said provision of free schoolbags to students of primary schools will help motivate parents to send their out-of-school children to schools.

Speaking at schoolbag distribution ceremonies in boys and girls primary schools in Kurrum Par area on Saturday, they said Marwato Islahi Jirga had provided the free schoolbags.

They said many parents in the trans-river belt could not afford educational expenses of their children due to poverty.

“The residents of Kurrum Par area even lack access to basic amenities of life,” said a PTC member, adding provision of free schoolbags to students would make other humanitarian organisations to follow the suit.

The members of the humanitarian organisation distributed around 150 bags among the students of primary schools in Wanda Shahabkhel, Aatashi Michenkhel and Mash Habibullah localities.
