LAHORE: The prosecution on Tuesday completed its evidence in the motorway gang-rape case and an anti-terrorism court also recorded statements of the suspects under section 342 of CrPC.

The defence completed cross-examination of all the prosecution witnesses and the court directed the former to present its evidence. The suspects denied the story of the prosecution.

Presiding Judge Arshad Hussain Bhutta would resume hearing of the jail trial on March 18.

Previously, the rape survivor had also recorded her statement and identified the suspects -- Abid Malhi and Shafqat Bagga.

Gujjarpura police had lodged the FIR No. 1369/20 under sections 376, 392 and 427 of Pakistan Penal Code and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.

The suspects had sexually assaulted the victim, a Pakistan origin French woman, in front of her three minor children after dragging her out of a car that stopped during the late night travel on the motorway after fuel ran out.
