Double title for veteran Inam

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: Former Davis Cup player Inamul Haq won a double crown in the Punjab Open Total tennis tournament held in Jallandhar, India on Oct 3-9.

In the 45 and above singles final, Inam outplayed local player Amerjeet Singh 6-4, 6-2 and then teamed up with Maj (Retd) Sohail Iqbal Khan to edge Jasbir Sadana and Jaspal Sadana of Amritsar 6- 1, 7-6 (3) in the doubles decider.

Rashid Malik, another Davis Cup player of yesteryear, competing in the 35 plus category, claimed the singles title with a 6-3, 6- 3 defeat of Rajesh Bharany.

The men’s doubles final saw Rasheed and Jaleel Khan knocking out Manav and Harman Beer of Patiala 7-5, 6-4.

However, young Omer Babar was unable to win the under-16 crown and fell to India’s Manik who won 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
