RAWALPINDI: A mother of three was tortured to death allegedly by her husband at Dhoke Lalyal on Sunday.

The Airport police said there were wounds on the neck of Lailama, 35, when her body was recovered by emergency service staff and police from her house.

The police have detained the husband of the victim on suspicion and shifted the body to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for a postmortem.

The rescue services quoted the family members of the woman as saying that she was locked in a room after being beaten by her husband. The suspect had locked the door from outside.

The rescue services said it seemed the woman had died a long time ago.

The police have registered a case on the complaint of Jehanzeb, brother of the woman. The complainant said his sister married Murad Khan about seven years ago.

He alleged that his sister had been tortured to death by her husband. She is survived by two daughters and a son. Her elder daughter is four-and-a-half-year-old, he added.
