LARKANA: The third judicial magistrate of Larkana on Saturday remanded the operating theatre (OT) technician and his two associates in police custody in a rape/complicity case.

An FIR against them was registered at the Sachal police station and they were produced before the magistrate on Saturday for a five-day remand.

The OT technician, serving at a private medical centre, has been accused of subjecting a 25-year-old married woman, who was admitted there after surgery of her fractured leg, to rape in the presence of the two other suspects in the operating theatre. The woman narrated her ordeal to the orthopaedic surgeon concerned who, according to her, requested her not to disclose this to anyone. She later told local reporters that the suspect’s associate also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the rape episode to anyone.

The area police visited the medical centre and took the doctor in protective custody but later reportedly released him. The operating theatre was, however, sealed.

City ASP Ahmed Faisal Chaudhri said that necessary medical tests/examinations of the woman and the suspects were being conducted to reach a conclusion.
