GUJRANWALA, Oct 13: A division bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday dismissed the petition of Ghulam Abbas Bukhari, the father of judge Sheharyar Bukhari who was killed in police operation in Sialkot prison, for declaring the order of anti-terrorism court void.
The ATC No 1 had acquitted Dr Firdaus Ahmad, who was medical superintendent of Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital, Sialkot, about two months ago.
Meanwhile, the ATC No 1 could not record the statements of about a dozen witnesses, including civil judges, and adjourned the hearing for Oct 21.
The complainant had apprised the court that he was going to file an appeal in Supreme Court against the decision of high court and requested that hearing should be adjourned.
CHALLAN TICKETS: Traffic police have issued as many as 13,585 challan tickets, besides impounding 1,771 vehicles on charges of violation in September.
This was claimed by traffic SP Asghar Saeed Pal at a briefing here on Thursday.
He said 33 route permits of vehicles had been cancelled and 38 driving licences were suspended for six months.
GANG BUSTED: People’s colony police claimed on Thursday to have busted a three-member dacoits’ gang and recovered looted goods and illicit arms from their possession.
District Police Officer Dr Arif Mushtaq said that the accused identified as Muhammad Javed, Atif Ali and Hafiz Muhammad Azam were living at a rented house near Nigar crossing and they had looted houses of some traders and several passers-by during the last two months. On a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and arrested them, he said.
He announced cash prize and commendation certificates for the raiding team.
