Job opportunities for Pakistanis to rise: Qatar diplomat

Qatar Consul General Mishal M Al-Ansari on Monday said that Doha has plans to increase employment opportunities for Pakistanis to over 300,000 in the coming years from the current 150,000. —Reuters/File

KARACHI: Qatar Consul General Mishal M Al-Ansari on Monday said that Doha has plans to increase employment opportunities for Pakistanis to over 300,000 in the coming years from the current 150,000.

Addressing members of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), he said that the number of companies with 100 per cent ownership of Pakistanis have increased significantly.

He said that LNG agreement between Pakistan and Qatar was a great milestone while both the countries are already working on many joint ventures in defence production, JF-17 aircraft project, defence training, food, agriculture and other industries.

Mr Al-Ansari said that despite terrible conditions due to coronavirus “we are fully prepared for FIFA World Cup 2022 and many mega infrastructure projects have been completed.”

@M. Emad, it was true few years ago but things changed rapidly in past few years. Not sure why but not many as Pakistanis are seen in middle management as it was the case before. Bangladeshi are more visible on these positions so does Nepalis and Indians. These guys have influence in selecting for lower level positions and they tend to pick from own countries as its easy to manage this way.

The Ministry of Overseas and Manpower should work out with all Gulf Countries minimum term of contracts, per month minimum wages, medical and accommodation facilities provided to un-skilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled Pakistani workers employed by foreign employers The rights of Pakistanis should be protected by Protector of Immigration before they enter into employment with overseas employers so that Pakistani workers should not face difficulties while working in any Gulf Country

Due to evergreen greedy bureaucracy and unfriendly policies for a businessman it is hard for educated Pakistani to open something new in their own country. Mostly skip in foreign countries forever... If international firms, banks starting packing up their things means that country's future is more than Afghanistan. Bureaucrats, diplomats and technocrats are themselves businessmen, their stomach is not full. Power, money greedy who will invest in Pakistan?
