KOHAT: The police have arrested 36 peddlers and recovered drugs, including ice, during a crackdown launched on anti-social elements across all the four circle subdivisions of the Kohat district.

A statement issued from the office of the district police officer Sohail Khalid on Monday said the operation was launched on the basis of information to wipe out the menace of drugs in the district.

The police seized 87kg hashish, four kilogrammes heroin, 666 grams ice and 155 grams opium. The drug peddlers were booked.

BUREAUCRACY CRITICISED: General secretary of the PTI’s Insaf Welfare Wing, Kohat chapter, Akhunzada Faheem Shah has accused the bureaucracy of failing to implement the vision of the prime minister aimed at ensuring good governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a statement issued on Monday, he said the local government department had failed to implement the approved plans of the commercial plazas, as a result the projects were stalled.

He said delay in sanction of projects by bureaucrats discouraged investors, which was bad for the economy.

He regretted that files of approved projects had been gathering dust for years.
