GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi and renowned classical singer Ustad Hamid Ali Khan inaugurated the centre named after the music maestro, the late Prof. Tariq Suleman Khan Farani, for his 50 years long illustrious contributions for the promotion of music at the campus. Musician-singer Jawad Ahamd and family members of Prof Farani were also present.

GCU Nazir Ahmad Ahmad Music Society (NAMS) also organised a ceremony to pay tribute to Prof Farani for his invaluable services for the art and music. A portrait of the late music teacher was also erected at the University’s Bukhari Auditorium.

Ustad Hamid Ali Khan said Prof Farani made GCU NAMS the biggest teaching centre of music in Pakistan as it produced a galaxy of stars like Shafqat Amanat Ali, Ali Zafar, Waris Baig, Jawad Ahmad, adding that his two sons had been trained in music at GCU NAMS by Prof. Farani.

He also sang a couple of compositions of Prof. Farani and demanded Pride of Performance from the Pakistan government for him.

Prof Zaidi said Mr. Farani was a craftsman who crafted and shaped up various lives and turned ordinary individuals into great musicians and extraordinary human beings.
