LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mahmood Dogar on Saturday launched another new police unit – Ababeel Squad – to control street crime and law and order situation.

The squad was especially raised as a support unit for crime hotspots of the city to ensure effective patrol.

Mr Dogar said the Ababeel Squad would be a motorbike force. Initially, it comprised 40 personnel who were provided 20 motorcycles and were specially trained to cordon off the areas of crime and conduct patrolling.

He said the squad was raised from Lahore police’s own resources and its members had been trained to respond to the crime scene to stop criminals from fleeing. He said squad would function under SP Mujahid Squad from Qurban Lines.
