QUETTA: The Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Friday rejected petitions against Saeed Ahmed Hashmi, founder of the Balochistan Awami Party, and Sajid Tareen of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP) and allowed them to contest Senate election.

A BHC bench comprising Chief Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Abdul Hameed Baloch heard the petitions.

The petition against acceptance of nomination of papers of Mr Hashmi was filed by BNP-M leader Musa Jan Baloch. The court rejected the plea of the petitioner and allowed Mr Hashmi to contest the election for a technocrat seat.

The bench also heard another petition filed by a citizen namely Khalid against acceptance of nomination papers of Mr Tareen, a candidate for general and technocrat seats. The court rejected the petition and allowed Mr Tareen to participate in the election.
