KARACHI: Omega Club and Mumba Squad beat their respective rivals in the quarter-finals to enter the semis of the ongoing Honda Atlas Power Cup basketball tournament here at the Arambagh-Abdul Nasir courts on Wednesday.

In the first quarter-final, Omega Club beat Karachi Basketball Club 48-47 after a nerve-tingling contest with star player Abbas Abid scoring in the last minute to see winners through. KBBC’s Jahanzeb Abbasi scored 19 points. Abbas scored 21 pts with three-pointers and was supported by Taimur Zaheer (12 pts) and Hasan Zafar (10 pts).

In the second quarter-final, Mumba Squad Clifton beat Black Mumba Karsaz 66-61 in a pulsating contest. Mhammad Taha Khattak (28 pts) was unstoppable on the court and scored five three-pointers. He was well backed up by Saad Khan (19 pts) and Kenneth Johnson (13 pts). For the losing Mohammad Behzad scored a record-breaking 34 points which is the highest in the tournament.
