LAHORE: An elderly man allegedly shot his daughter dead and injured her friend critically in the name of honour in Shalimar area here on Wednesday.

The suspect’s son also suffered a bullet injury, when he tried to rescue his sister, according to the police.

The police arrested the 70-year-old suspect, Akram, and lodged a murder case against him on the report of his wife, Shamim Akhtar.

In the FIR, the complainant stated that her daughter ‘S’ was living separately along with her two minor children after she was divorced by her husband. She said her daughter developed relations with Zubair, who used to visit her house.

On Wednesday, Shamim said, someone told Akram about the affair, when Zubair again visited the house of her daughter. She said Akram went to the house of ‘S’ armed with a pistol and opened fire on them, leaving both of them injured.

She said her son Yasin also rushed to the scene and suffered a bullet injury in a bid to rescue his sister.

The injured were shifted to hospital, where ‘S’ succumbed to her wounds, while the condition of Zubair was stated to be critical.

Shamim alleged that her husband killed their daughter in the name of honour and demanded action against him under the law of land.

The police shifted the body of the deceased woman to the city morgue for an autopsy.
