MIRPURKHAS, Oct 11: Engines of dozens of trucks were damaged by sub-standard and adulterated diesel, purchased from a petrol pump on Hyderabad road near the Mohammad Medical College, Mirpurkhas.

The owners of trucks whose engines developed faults after consumption of adulterated diesel, called upon the government to take notice against the owner of the petrol outlet.

These trucks included KB-766, E-1707, KT-1775, GLT-3143, P-3641, E-8412, JT-4689, BU-5673, E-8273 and K-8602.

Many other affected trucks had left the city after repairs.

Shah Faisal Khan of Shan Hazara Goods Forwarding Agency, Mirpurkhas and owners of the affected trucks including Faraz Khan, Nazar Mohammad, Habibullah Khan, Wazir, Iqbal and others told newsmen that they had suffered losses when the engines of their trucks developed faults after use of sub-standard and adulterated diesel, allegedly purchased from the petrol outlet of Pakistan State Oil situated on Hyderabad Road.

They lamented that each owner suffered a loss of Rs15,000 due to the irresponsibility of the owner of the petrol outlet for selling sub-standard diesel.

They said that they had purchased 15,000 litres diesel from the petrol outlet which proved adulterated.

They said that the owner had violated rules set by PSO. They said the pump should be sealed and blacklisted.

The owner of the pump, Khushhal Das, however said that the truck owners were levelling baseless allegations against him.

He added that the diesel sold at his petrol outlet was genuine and he would contact the truck owners to disprove the charges.
