FAISALABAD: The district administration on Wednesday demolished some illegal buildings in the yarn market, including a plaza belonging to the family of former state minister for water and power, Abid Sher Ali.

During the anti-encroachment operation, the district administration employees along with police demolished some structures worth millions of rupees in the yarn market which had been under illegal possession for years.

Assistant Commissioner (City) Ayub Bukhari, who led the operation, told Dawn that the shops and a plaza had been constructed on the municipal corporation land and were completely illegal.

He said such operations would continue and every inch of the state land would be retrieved from illegal occupants.

Similarly, assistant commissioners of Saddar, Chak Jhumra, Jaranwala, Samundari, Tandlianwala and Faisalabad Development Authority also retrieved state land worth millions of rupees.
