LAHORE: A number of leading artistes from the film fraternity attended the funeral prayers for film star Neelo held at her residence at Hali Road, Gulberg. She was laid to rest at Pir Makki Graveyard.

The prominent faces of the film industry who attended the funeral prayers included Syed Noor, Saima, Sheeba Butt, Moamar Rana, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Waris Baig, Resham, Ashraf Khan, Rashid Mehmood, Rambo, Meera, Naghma, Shafaqat Cheema, Nasir Adeeb, director Hassan Askari, producer Ijaz Kamran and choreographer Pappu Samrat.

Neelo’s son Shaan who had announced her death on twitter on Saturday took to twitter again early on Sunday with a tweet, saying, “I don’t know what to write as words have become empty .. just like the world without her is so meaning less. My success and my failures both need her. The only hope that is still alive is to meet her one day beyond the boundaries of life..love you forever. ALLAH apkay saath ho”.

The artistes, who attended the funeral prayers, were of the view that Neelo was a dedicated and a disciplined actor who gave many good movies to the industry. They said that with her death the industry had lost a veteran artiste who had won a number of Nigar awards for her acting in films.

Qul for the decease would be held at 1:30pm at her residence today (Monday).
