Two cup events among card of seven at LRC today

LAHORE: A seven-event card featuring two cup races highlights the 21st Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

All the seven races are meant for horses in different divisions of the class VII handicap.

The Blooming Maid Cup for class I and II combined handicap race to be gone over 1,300 metres has a field of odd seven runners. On recent form bay colt Banaras Prince, who won a race last Sunday looks poised to make it two wins in-a-row while mares Rang-e-Hina and Legacy could be his challengers.

In the supporting cup event, the Maidens Cup has a big field of 17 runners, each of whom have yet to see the winner’s enclosure. The majority has not even touched the frame. It looks an open race.

The sixth race, the Kaghan Plate Class VII Division II to be gone over 1,300 metres has nine runners. The field included some progenies of top quality bloodlines such as colts Surkhab, El Dorado and Royal Solution and filly Hassan’s Heights, who are expected to fight for the top honours.

The Pir Pagara Syed Sibghatullah owned three-year-old colt-Royal Solution, who was beaten to third place on his previous runs looks capable of making amends this time and win the race although placed at the top of handicap assigned nine stones and two pounds weight.

Three-year-old colt El Dorado, a son of English sire, Proconsul was placed fourth in the nursery cup and doing well in morning track work. It should be a lively contest. Five races will be contested over 1,100 metres distance while two will be gone over 1,300 metres .

The first will be held at 12:30pm.

Royal Angel 9-0, Jaidi’s Pride 9-0, Revolver 9-0, Amigo 9-0, Mahogany Boy 9-0, Galactic Choice 8-10, German Boy 8-10, Mani Love 8-10, Master Prince 8-6, Again Aye 8-6, Mera Pass Tum Ho 8-6, Jee Aya Nu 7-12, Sky Dancer 7-10, Great Warrior 7-10, Easy Go 7-10.

Win: Jaidi’s Pride.

Place: Master Prince and Zaman Sahib.

Upset: Easy Go.
