MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 8: The AJK directorate of colleges has sought explanation from the heads of state-run colleges regarding the “disappointing state of affairs in their respective institutions particularly results in the exams”, failing which they may face strict action.

The explanation, it was learnt, was sought under the directives of AJK Minister for Education Chaudhry Mohammad Aziz who was dissatisfied with the situation in government-run institutions of the higher secondary education.

According to a circular, the heads of the colleges were asked to explain why they had failed in maintaining discipline in their respective institutions and producing admirable results in the exams.

The circular particularly pointed out that many college teachers were teaching in private institutions instead of giving due attention to their basic institution.

Apart from the disappointing standard of teaching in the colleges, there also seemed to be no check on the attendance of students, it added.

The heads of colleges have been directed to submit details of educational results of the past three years to the directorate at the earliest, besides furnishing replies to other points.

The circular warned those failing to give satisfactory reply that they would not only be transferred to remote areas but their annual increments would also be stopped.
