DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A gunman killed two other passengers on a moving bus bound for Peshawar at Qureshi Mor on Dera-Bhakkar Road here on Thursday.

Confirming the incident, a police official said that the other bus passengers caught the accused and handed him over to the Gomal University police.

The police recovered the weapon from the alleged attacker identified as Nadeem Khan, son of Mumtaz Yousafzai of Mardan. The victims were identified as 62-year-old Aslam, son of Mohammad Hussain Ansari of Multan, and 40-year-old Mureed Abbas, son of Nazir Hussain Rai of Muzaffargarh. The police said that a 9mm pistol was used in the attack.

After the incident, other passengers on the bus caught the accused and handed him over to the Qureshi Mor police checkpost staff.

The Gomal University police station have registered a double murder case against Nadeem Khan. The reason for the attack could not be ascertained.

In another incident, Mohammad Iqbal, a resident of Basti Ikhtiarkhel, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Kotjai area of Paharpur tehsil. According to police, Mohammad Iqbal was riding his motorbike in Kot Jai area of Kadi Khaisur police station when unidentified gunmen opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

The accused managed to escape from the scene. Rescue 1122 team shifted the body to tehsil headquarters hospital, Paharpur, for postmortem. Police have registered a case.
