CHARSADDA: Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, has acquired mutation papers of 780 kanals which was bought for construction of its own building in 2012.

Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad said the land ownership documents were now available and it had legally been taken over. He said the work on construction of the campus would be started soon.

After taking charge as VC about a month ago, Prof Ahmad started work for taking possession of the land. He called on the deputy commissioner and DPO of Charsadda and urged them to play their due role to hand over the land documents to the varsity administration.

The VC also constituted a committee for the purpose headed by registrar Arif Hussain Shah. Treasurer Dr Zahoorul Haq, deputy director audit Azam Khan, assistant registrar legal Ashfaq Khan and procurement officer Ishtiyaq Ahmad were members of the committee. On Thursday, the committee handed over the mutation documents to the VC.

Prof Ahmad thanked the deputy commissioner Syed Adeel Shah for handing over the land documents to the university administration in a short span of time. He has asked the registrar to send commendation letters to the DC and his staffers as acknowledgement of their services.

ARRESTED: Two suspects have been arrested for attack on the cavalcade of ANP lawmaker Shakeel Bashir Khan Umarzai in which a police guard was killed on January 5.

DPO Mohammad Shoeb Khan told a press conference here on Thursday that two suspects, Hamid and Ashfaq, had been arrested and weapons and two vehicles used in the attack recovered from their possession.

MPA Shakeel Umarzai had narrowly escaped while police constable Shehenshah was killed during attack on their cavalcade on Ghani Khan Road on January 5.

The DPO said that police were also investigating suspected involvement of Seyyaf, Waheed Gul, Khushdil, Sartaj and Imran in the case. He said Imran, who is already in Mardan jail, had allegedly orchestrated the plan to attack MPA Shakeel.
