NAROWAL: A 10-year-old boy was killed when some local opponents opened fire on him and his family over a grudge following a fight between children. Four people were seriously injured in the incident.
Three days ago, a fight had broken out between children while playing in the street in Chandra Rajputan village near Narowal. Later, the children’s parents had also got involved in the brawl and one side nursed a grudge against the other.
On Wednesday, Muhammad Tariq and his family members were passing through the street when Fanan Ali and his accomplices allegedly attacked them with gunfire and axes. After the assault, the suspects fled from the scene, brandishing their weapons.
Tariq’s son, Muhammad Jibran, 10, was seriously injured in the firing and Muhammad Arif, Muhammad Nadeem, Muhammad Kashif and Muhammad Tariq injured with axes.
Rescue 1122 reached the spot on the report of the injured and shifted them all to the DHQ hospital, however Jibran died on the way.
Dr Muhammad Bilal from the emergency ward of the hospital said the condition of Arif was critical due to which he was referred to Lahore. The remaining injured were being treated at the DHQ hospital.
Saddar police reached the spot and took Jibran’s body into custody, and transferred him to the morgue for post-mortem and further legal action. Police also gathered evidence from the crime scene and launched an investigation.
