FAISALABAD: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar has said water filtration plants are being installed in jails, hospitals, educational institutions and police lines under the Sarwar Foundation to provide clean drinking water to people.

Talking to the media after inauguration of a water filtration plant at the chief traffic officer’s office here on Sunday, the governor said that currently his foundation was providing clean drinking water to two million people daily in the province.

He said the first water project under the Punjab Aab-i-Pak Authority would be implemented in Chak Jhumra in a couple of days to provide drinking water to 16 villages.

The governor said an agreement had been signed with the Sailani Welfare Trust to reactivate the closed water plants.

He regretted that though billions of rupees had been spent on water projects in the past, but they failed due to lack of maintenance of filtration plants which were closed.

He said provision of clean drinking water to the citizens was one of the top priorities of the government and his foundation was helping it in this regard.
