LAHORE: PML-Q senior leader and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has said there should not be politics of vengeance.

“The politics of vengeance is negative politics and it smacks of arrogance. Allah Almighty does not like arrogance,” he said in an apparent advice to the government.

He was talking to PML-N former MNA Dewan Ashiq Bokhari who called on him at his residence here on Saturday.

Federal Housing Minister Tariq Bashir Cheema and MNA Moonis Elahi were also present.

Parvez Elahi said the PML-Q in its tenure had completed welfare projects in south Punjab for allaying deprivations of the people.

“If given an opportunity in future the party will continue the journey of progress and development,” he said.

Dewan Ashiq Bokhari said works of Parvez Elahi in south Punjab were viewed with great respect and the people [even today] remembered his tenure.

He also inquired after Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.
