PESHAWAR: Dera Ismail Khan police has arranged a three-day blood donation camp for thalassaemia patients.

Regional police officer Mohammad Yasin Farooq said on this occasion that besides battling terrorism Dera Ismail Khan police were also striving to serve the ailing people, according to a statement issued here on Friday.

He said that the police would play an active part in donating blood for thalassaemia patients. Mr Farooq said that by donating blood they could save lives.

Speaking on the occasion, federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur said that regional blood centre had been set up in which blood would be stored safely.

He said that a modern thalassaemia centre would be established in Dera soon.

On the opening day, Mr Gandapur and Dera police chief Arif Shahbaz also donated blood. On this occasion, appointment letters were also distributed among sons of the police martyrs.
