Covid-19 standard operating procedures will be implemented "in letter and spirit" during New Year's Eve celebrations in Karachi, according to information released by the Karachi commissioner's office.
A meeting chaired by the commissioner also decided that all restaurants and businesses will be closed at 5pm on New Year's Eve.
Law enforcement personnel will be deployed to control the crowds visiting Sea View to celebrate, while there will be a ban on aerial firing in the city.
