Jirga rejects fencing

Published December 28, 2020

GWADAR: A well-attended jirga held here has rejected the government’s plan of fencing off the port city of Gwadar and said the authorities wanted to restrict the entry of local people into the area and stop the fishermen from earning their livelihood.

Tribal elders from different areas of the Gwadar district, including Peshkan, Ganz, Jewani, Surbandar, Pasni and Ormara, and leaders of various political parties, including those from the Pakistan Democratic Movement, attended the jirga.

Maulana Abdul Hameed Inqalabi, Kohda Ali, Yousaf Faryadi, Usman Kalmati, Khalid Waleed Safi and others spoke on the occasion.

They said that once again rulers wanted to deceive the people but the masses would not accept the division of Gwadar through a fence.
