HYDERABAD, Oct 4: People’s Party Parliamentarians leaders of the district chapter have accused the powers that be of harassing and intimidating Awam Dost candidates’ supporters who are eligible to vote in the third phase of the local body elections.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Tuesday, PPP city president and MPA Zahid Bhurgari, ADP candidate for the district nazim slot, Mir Fateh Talpur, candidate for city taluka nazim, Syed Fayaz Ali Shah and Latifabad taluka nazim slot, Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro said if any supporter of ADP candidates was harmed the consequences would be disastrous.

They said that many a provincial minister had set up permanent camp in Hyderabad to supervise the “operation” against the ADP candidates’ supporters.

They said the DCO and the DPO were sitting with the ministers at the circuit house round the clock to carry out their instructions. They failed to understand that when the authorities were claiming that the government’s candidates would win the elections both hands down, then why the opposition candidates and their supporters were being harassed.

They said the entire government machinery had been geared up for the success of government-backed candidates. They warned that the Sindh chief minister to be very, very careful lest the whole of Sindh was declared a no-go-area for him when the time came.
