ISLAMABAD: Newly-appointed Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) Chairman Maroof Afzal passed away due to Covid-19 on Thursday.

A former officer of Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS), Maroof Afzal had earlier served as the chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA). He also served as the secretary establishment and cabinet division.

After his retirement, he was appointed as a member of the FPSC.

Recently, he was named as the chairman of the FPSC, but died before assuming the new office.
