SUKKUR, Oct 3: A woman was gunned down by her husband and his accomplices on the pretext of karo-kari in Jafferabad village in the Abad police area on Monday. Feroza, wife of Laiq Lakhan, had taken divorce from her husband through the district and session court, Sukkur, some eight days ago because her husband often used to torture her.

She was preparing meals in the house of her parents when her ex-husband Laiq along with his accomplices barged into the house and opened fire. As a result, she was killed on the spot while the accused escaped.

Barkat Ali Lakhan, the father of the deceased woman, registered a case at the Abad police station.

Those booked include Laiq Lakhan, Allah Wadhayo, Qalandar Bux, Abdul Khaliq, Hafeez, Babar, Qabil and others.

Later, police arrested Laiq Lakhan while raids were under way to arrest other accused.
