RAWALPINDI, Oct 2: Muhammad Asif of Railways pedalled off to win the 160-kilometre Peshawar to Rawalpindi road cycle race by covering the distance in 4.27:54 seconds on Sunday.

A total of 53 cyclists from Railways, Army, Wapda, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), Punjab, Balochistan, Sindh and NWFP took part in the race organised

by Pakistan Cycling Federation.

Army’s Muhammad Saleem clinched second while Imran Sharif of SSGC bagged the third.

Abdul Ahad Khan (SSGC), Ghulam Abbas (Army) and Naeem Khan (SSGC) were fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.

Federal Minister for Sports Muhammad Ajmal khan, who was chief guest on the occasion, awarded Asif a cash prize of Rs25,000.

The runner-up received Rs15,000 and the third Rs10,000.

The minister also announced further cash prizes of Rs20,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000 for the top three.—APP
