LARKANA, Oct 2: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Larkana, announced result of the higher secondary certificate Part-II (commerce group) on Friday wherein only one candidate could clinch A-1 grade.
The controller of examination, Prof Rabnawaz Tunio, in a notification said that 247 candidates took the examination, of them 18 were declared failed. A result of one student was withheld.
Among 255 passing candidates, 12 were placed in A-grade, 53 in B-grade, 122 in C-grade and 66 in D-grade, respectively.
The combined pass percentage was assessed at 93.06.
Students of the Government Arts and Commerce College Larkana obtained first three positions.
Neelam, daughter of Ghulam Hussain Abro, obtained 885 marks and the stood first, Kashif Sarwar, son of Ghulam Sarwar Shaikh, got 840 marks and secured the second position while Sultan Ahmed, son of Zahoor Ahmed Lahori, obtained 820 marks and clinched the third position.
The controller said the BISE reserved the right of rectifying mistakes, errors and omissions in positions and results at any time on the basis of the original record.
PROTEST: A large number of villagers in Mahoto village protesting against power outage blocked the Larkana-Naudero road on Friday.
A protestor Ghulam Shabir Gaad put himself on torch in protest and was admitted to the Chandka Medical College Hospital with burn injuries.
They demonstrated outside the office of SDO Hesco Empire division and superintendent engineer.
They alleged that two linemen — Wazeer Kalhoro and Ramzan Channa — were pressing them not to install electricity meters.
The executive engineer Ghulam Haider Mirani talked to the protestors.
When contacted, Mr Mirani said the line superintendent Nazeer Khajar was suspended on the charges of power breakdowns in the area.
TWO DROWN: A two-year-old boy, Farhan Ali Wagan, on Friday drowned in an opened gutter near chunggi number-7 in city while seven-year-old Khalid Khoso drowned while bathing in Sangi Wah on the outskirts of Larkana city.
The bodies of both the boys were later recovered.
