US diplomat lauds Pakistan role in Afghan peace process

RAWALPINDI: US Charge d’Affaires to Pakistan Angela Aggeler on Thursday appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to conflict prevention in the region and relentless support provided in the Afghan peace process.

The director general of Inter-Services Public Relations, Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar, in a tweet said the US envoy expressed these views during a meeting with Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including regional security situation, particularly the Afghan peace process, were discussed.

The dignitary assured the army chief of United States’ continued assi­s­tance for the common cause of peace in Afghanistan, he added.
