LAHORE: After holding the historical exhibition baseball matches in Skardu and Gilgit-Baltistan on Oct 31 and Nov 3, respectively, the Pakistan Federation Baseball has announced that it would also hold matches in Shandur during its annual festival next year.

Syed Fakhar Ali Shah, the president of Pakistan Federation Baseball, on Monday said Pakistan had earned the privilege of hosting the matches at the highest altitude globally. The matches were hosted in Skardu at 7,000-plus feet altitude breaking the previous record of Colorado, US, (5,000 feet).

He said that the players from hill stations had better stamina so the federation was trying to hunt the talent from FATA, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

He said that the game of baseball would further be promoted when the federation would organise a match in Shandur.

He also thanked Director-General Sports Gilgit-Baltistan Hussain Ali for organising the exhibition matches there. Hussain Ali said that his department would also extend its full support to the federation for organising the matches in Shandur during the festival next year.
