LAKKI MARWAT: New office-bearers of Jamaat-i-Islami, district chapter, were elected unopposed in a meeting held here in Naurang town on Sunday.

Party’s district chief Haji Azizullah Khan chaired the meeting attended by members of the shura.

The new office-bearers included Abdul Ghaffar secretary general, Hafiz Waliullah deputy secretary general and Abdul Samad, Mufti Irfanullah, Zafar Semab, Dr Matiullah and Sabz Ali Naveed deputy chiefs and Saifur Rehman finance secretary.

Mr Samad has been assigned additional responsibilities of political and election committees. Zafar Semab will look after private schools’ affairs while Dr Matiullah and Sabz Ali have been tasked to look after the affairs of reconciliatory and training committees, respectively.

SPORTS GALA: The district administration of Bannu organised a sports gala to highlight the importance of anti-polio campaign and seek players’ support to eliminate the crippling disease.

Local volleyball and football clubs also featured in matches played in a stadium in Ghoriwala area of Bannu. The sports events were held to show commitment to the national cause of making the country polio-free by immunising all children under age five with oral polio vaccine.

In the volleyball event, Surani Club defeated Mamashkhel Club while Shaheen club won the football match.
