FAISALABAD, Sept 29: Faisalabad Range DIG Khwaja Khalid Farooq has asked SP (Investigation) Rana Tauqeer Hayat to ensure transparent investigation of the case registered against suspended SP Abdullah Khalid and three other policemen, giving them a fair opportunity to defend themselves.

The DIG issued orders on Thursday on the complaint of accused Abdullah Khalid that the SP (investigation) had associated People’s Colony DSP Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad with the inquiry team of the case registered against him and other policemen.

He alleged that Chaudhry Mushtaq had worked as DSP (investigation) under his command and was transferred on his complaint. In this backdrop, he would not impartially conductthe inquiry.

The Sargodha Road police had registered a case under section 343 and 125-A of the PPC and section 155 of the Police Order 2002 against suspended SP Abdullah Khalid, former inspector Jamshed Iqbal Chishti and two constables for wilful breach of duty and keeping Sonia Naz’s husband Asim Yousaf in illegal confinement.

SP Abdullah Khalid is on pre-arrest bail till Oct 1 while the other accused have been sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

TERMINATION: Meanwhile, SP Rana Tauqeer Hayat on Thursday terminated the services of eight policemen on the charges of negligence and their involvement in irregularities.

Those terminated were constables Shabbir Husain, Nasir Ali, Rab Nawaz, Muhammad Naeem, Mansoor, Altaf Husain, Muhammad Ashiq and Shabbir Ahmad.

Sources said during the preliminary interrogation of cases and reports against these police constables, it was observed that they were involved in irregularities.
