QUETTA: A central leader of the traders’ organisation of Balochistan, Allahdad Tareen, was shot dead in his village in Pishin district on Monday evening.

Levies officials said that the general secretary of traders’ body was gunned down when he was coming out of a mosque after offering evening prayers in the Loai-Alizai area on the outskirts of Pishin town.

“Mr Tareen suffered multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot,” a senior official of the Levies Force said, adding that the gunmen fled after the attack.

Members of Levies Force rushed to the area after receiving information about the incident and took the body of Mr Tareen to Pishin district hospital.

Later, hospital authorities handed over the body to family members of Mr Tareen.

No one has claimed responsibility for the murder and members of Levies Force were investigating the case.

Meanwhile, Balochistan government spokesman Liaquat Shahwani has condemned the killing of Mr Tareen.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the spokesman said that the traders’ leader had been assassinated outside his residence. He pledged that killers of Mr Tareen would be brought to justice.
