Sugar prices

Published November 4, 2020

AS per the report of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed by the government to probe the reason for high sugar prices, quite a few sugar mills are owned by leaders of mainstream opposition parties.

These political parties have been crying themselves hoarse and blaming the government for increase in the price of sugar and flour, and have been demanding that it should control the prices of items.

This is to request the sugar mill owners sitting on opposition benches to reduce sugar prices by Rs15-20 per kg by themselves. As a result, the remaining sugar mills will also be forced to sell at the reduced rate I hope the owners-politicians will pay heed to the suggestion as this is the most practical measure to reduce the price of at least one essential commodity.
