RAWALPINDI: A woman was murdered, allegedly by her husband and in-laws over a domestic dispute in Naseerabad, police said on Sunday.

The victim’s father, Jameelur Rehman who is a resident of Okara, lodged a first information report (FIR) which alleged that his daughter, Madiha Jameel, 30, was tortured and murdered by her husband and his family.

He said in the FIR that the couple often quarreled because his son-in-law would take his daughter’s salary.

On Friday night, the suspect called Rehman’s younger daughter, informing her that her sister had been shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Rawalpindi where she passed away.

He said he went to the hospital along with his son and other relatives and found his daughter’s body in the mortuary that had marks of torture, alleging that his daughter had been murdered.

Before the suspect called his younger daughter, he said, Madiha had called Rescue 15 to inform them that her car had been stolen, adding she did not respond when they picked up her call and he believed this was the time she was tortured.

Naseerabad police have registered a murder case against the victim’s husband and his family.
