SUKKUR: Many areas of Jacobabad district were closed to mourn the death of Begum Saeeda Ahmed Mian Soomro, the mother of Federal Minister for Privatisation Sardar Muhammad Mian Soomro, on Thursday.

Begum Soomro died in an Islamabad hospital after prolonged illness.

Her body arrived in Jacobabad on Thursday morning. The funeral prayers were offered in the city’s central Eidgah before she was laid to rest next to the grave of her husband, Ahmed Mian Soomro, in their ancestral village.

The funeral was attended by chieftains and elders of various tribes and communities, local leaders of PTI, PPP, PPP-SB, JUI-F and other political and religious parties as well as the deputy commissioner, senior police officers and a large number of people from all walks of life.
