PESHAWAR: Khyber Teaching Hospital has resumed institution-based practice after pause of six months due to Covid-19.

The decision to start IBP was made by the Board of Governors of the hospital to facilitate patients in the evening shift, a press release said.

However, the patients have been asked to come in the accompaniment of only one attendant with strict adherence to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Visitors have been asked to use face mask and follow social distancing measures to stay safe from the infection.

Khyber Medical College Dean Prof Mahmud Aurangzeb, pioneer of laparoscopic surgery in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will also be present in IBP in addition to professors, associate and assistant professors in all medical disciplines. They will charge Rs1,000 as consultation fee per patient.

The release said that patients would undergo surgeries and other procedures under the supervision of the qualified doctors and staff on lesser rates than the market.

Patients have been advised to visit the hospital from 3pm to 8pm. The main objective of IBP is to strengthen the institution financially and provide quality services to the patients under one roof.

The major cause of deaths during surgeries in private clinics is non-qualified anaesthetists. The diagnostic services including radiology and pathology reports are generated through state-of-the-art machines under the supervision of senior professors and qualified staff in the hospital.
