SWABI/LAKKI MARWAT: Three army personnel who embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack in the North Waziristan tribal district on Thursday were laid to rest in their native graveyards with military honour here on Friday.

Naib Subedar Riaz Ahmad was laid to rest in his native Malikabad village of Gadoon Amazai mountainous region of Swabi district.

A large number of people, including army officers and jawans, local politicians and officials of the district administration attended the funeral prayers.

Leaders of political parties present on occasion said the tremendous sacrifice rendered by the army soldier was an honour and a matter of pride not only for his family but also for the entire district.

Meanwhile, martyred Lance-Naik Asmatullah and Haveldar Younas Khan were laid to rest in Adamzai and Umer Titterkhel villages of Lakki Marwat.

Civil and military officials and people from different walks of life attended the funeral prayers.

The soldiers were martyred when a convoy of the security forces was attacked with an improvised explosive device near Razmak.
