ISLAMABAD: Four more educational institutes in the capital were sealed on Thursday after detection of coronavirus among staff and students.

Officials said seven positive cases were reported from these four educational institutes.

Three private schools, one each at H-8, G-15 and DHA and a college G-10 were sealed on the directions of the deputy commissioner Islamabad till further orders.

The area police were deployed in the institutions to avoid entry into the premises. The tally of the sealed schools and colleges in the capital reached 31, said the officials, adding 73 cases were reported from these institutes.

Meanwhile, 155 confirmed cases were reported in the capital on Thursday. The daily count of the confirmed cases crossed the figure of 150 after July 2 when 170 cases were reported. Since then, the per day count had remained under 117.

The 155 cases were detected from 4,832 tests conducted in the city.

The officials said 12 cases each were reported from Tarlai and F-6 followed by 10 from Bhara Kahu, eight each from I-8, F-10, seven each from G-7, G-11, six each from G-10, Chak Shahzad, five each from PWD, G-9, G-6, F-11, DHA II, four each from Ghouri Town, G-8, G-16, F-8, Bahria Town, three each from Pims, G-13, Bahria Enclave, two each from I-10, H-12, G-5, Banigala, Saidpur village, Margalla Town, Jinnah Garden, Korng Town, National Police Foundation, Soan Garden, River Garden, E-7, E-9, F-5, F-7, G-15, I-12, British Homes, and Jhangi Syedan.

Rawalpindi

In the district of Rawalpindi, 13 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

A senior official of the health department said the district had reported 7,249 confirmed cases of the disease so far with 300 deaths and 6,765 recoveries.

He said majority of the coronavirus patients have recovered.

“No death has been reported in Rawalpindi district during the last two days,” he said.

The district administration has been directed to implement fresh SOPs in all educational institutions, public places, private and government offices, though majority of people are not wearing face masks in markets and other busy areas.

Taxila

Three more persons, including a health practitioner, tested positive in Taxila, taking the tally to 522 in the city.

According to a report issued by the health department, two cases were reported from Wah and one from Taxila.

Deputy district officer health Dr Sara Qadeer said there are 101 active patients in the area and all of them are under home isolation. She said 402 patients have so far recovered from the disease.
