LAHORE: The 25th session of the Punjab Assembly will start here on Friday (today).

The session has been convened on the requisition of the opposition which plans to give a tough time to the government on registration of cases against the former’s leadership under sedition charges.

Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi will chair the session which will begin at 2 afternoon. It will most likely be a one-day show if one goes by the tradition, while the Assembly Secretariat has also issued agenda only for one day. It includes written questions about the agriculture department and two general discussions – one on price hike and the other on law and order.

Meanwhile, the speaker along with Law Minister Basharat Raja and assembly officers visited the new building of the House under construction for over 15 years.

As per original plans, it was to be completed by 2008 and since then various deadlines have been skipped, including the one of presenting the budget for 2020-21 at the new chambers.

The speaker said no more delay in its completion would be tolerated as he would hold meetings on the construction-related agencies on a weekly basis.
