ADP candidates seek help of CEC

Published September 26, 2005

SUKKUR, Sept 25: Leaders of the PPP and Awam Dost Panel candidates for district and taluka nazim have sent a telegram to the chief election commissioner, Sindh IGP and the Sukkur RPO seeking their help against police which, they alleged, were harassing their councillors and workers.

The joint telegram was sent on Sunday by Nauman Sheikh, Ajmal Shah, Shabbir Sheikh, Abdul Haq Chauhan and Syed Owais Shah.

They said the police officials including TPOs of Rohri, Mando Dero and Sukkur along with SHOs of Jhangro police station, Kandhra police station and Dubbar police station were involved in registering false cases against their workers to pressurize them not to vote on October 6.

They said the government-backed Khushaal Pakistan Panel was involved in massive rigging during the first two phases of the local body elections.
