KARACHI: In a repeat performance, fast chasing Gladiator edged past front-runner Risky by neck to add Fast Track Cup to its tally during the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The in-form horse Gladiator, who had won the Equinox Cup last weekend, was galloped to victory by its regular rider Safdar Hussain.

Gladiator’s co-favourite Galileo Lady had to be content with third place a length behind with Dhannak completing the frame with a fall back of five lengths.

In an earlier race, favourite three-year-old filly Artemisia obliged all and sundry winning as she pleased by nine lengths.

She defeated Secret Of Life for the honours with rider Mohammad Ramzan in the saddle.

Justify and Kamyaab followed the two on board respectively.

Racegoers suffered as the favourites bit the dust in the opening two races of card.

Perta, with no form worth, sprang the first surprise by getting the better of Little Darling by seven lengths while favourite Sassy Gold finished third, followed by Jungle Queen.

Rank outsider Haw­wan defeated Haseena-e-Arab by neck to create another upset. Darshan was third and Arabian Queen fourth among six starters.

Haseena-e-Arab and Darshan were both opened as co-favourites.
