SPSC issues

Published October 1, 2020

THE Sindh Public Service Commission is entrusted with the task of conducting competitive examinations in the province for vacancies in provincial departments and district administration offices. Candidates who sit these exams suffer because of the SPSC officials’ careless handling of the recruitment process. The 2013, 2018 and 2019 CCE screening tests contained many errors, many of which were pointed out by candidates sitting these exams.

Even the 2020 CCE screening test paper contained more than five errors. However, the SPSC accepted that only five questions were ‘wrong’ and the allotted 6.25 marks grace marks were given to all candidates in lieu of these errors.

The unfortunate part is that almost 200 candidates were not shortlisted in the list of successful candidates. Candidates who attempted the five questions containing errors were given only five grace marks while the SPSC had announced 6.25 grace marks.

The affected candidates submitted applications to the SPSC controller for rechecking/recounting and received the response “No any error has been found” (sic). Many of the candidates who applied for rechecking have not even received this reply.

The concerned authorities are requested to resolve the issue at the earliest so that these candidates can compete in the 2020 competitive examination.
