PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl central general secretary Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri has condemned arrest of party workers in Dera Ismail Khan and warned the government against victimising political workers.

Addressing members of the provincial Shura here on Wednesday, he said the government was in a state of panic after the ‘landmark’ decisions of the Islamabad multiparty moot and ‘massive’ rallies organised by the JUI-F in different cities.

Provincial chief Maulana Attaur Rehman chaired the meeting.

Maulana Haideri insisted the government was using NAB as a tool to victimise its political rivals. He said the so-called political spokespersons had started character assassination of politicians.

He said if the government did not stop blackmailing tactics then the party would take serious decisions.
