BANNU, Sept 24: A man was killed and his wife and minor son received injuries when an explosive device went off in the Mitakhel village here on Saturday. Haji Rehmat Nawaz lodged a report with the police that he was busy in the construction of a wall in the house of Rasool Niaz when the house was rocked by an explosion and smoke came out of a room. He said that when he checked the room, he found Rasool Niaz, his wife Gulnaz Bibi and son Suhail Khan lying in a pool of blood. They were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where Rasool Niaz died of his injuries.

Ms Gulnaz was referred to a hospital in Peshawar in a critical condition, and the boy was admitted to the DHQ Hospital in Bannu.

Sources said that the bomb was lying in the house of Rasool Niaz, and ruled out the possibility that the device was lobbed into the house.
